1923년 미국 시애틀에서 출생. 십대에 기타를 치며 작곡을 했다고 한다. 1950년대 L.A에서 Fabor Robinson에서 기타연주자로 활동하며, 이름도 Bonnie Guitar로 고쳤다. 1956년에 부른 "Dark Moon"이 차트 #6위에 올랐다. 이듬해 "Mister Fire Eyes"를 내놓았지만, 인기를 얻지 못했다. 그녀는 시애틀로 돌아가 Dolton이란 레코드사를 설립하고, 59년 3인조 그룹 Fleet Wood를 영입 그들의 인기에 힘입어 레코드사를 Liberty사에 매각한다. 60년대에 Bonnie는 "A Woman In Love", "I Believe In Love" 등이 탑텐에 들었다. 그후 계속하여 작곡과 가수활동을 했지만 더 이상 부각되지는 못했다.

"Originally, this was an old American folk song named Moonlight On The Colorado in 1930. Robert A. "Bobo" King composed the tune while Billy Moll wrote the lyrics. I believe Jimmy Noone first sang this song."

Bonnie Guitar (born Bonnie Buckingham March 25, 1923 in Seattle, Washington) is an American Country-Pop Singer. She is best remembered for her 1957 Country-Pop crossover hit "Dark Moon". She became one of the first female Country Music singers to have songs crossover from the Country charts to the Pop charts, and have hits on both sides.

 

보니 기타(본명은 보니 버킹엄, 출생은 1923, 3, 25 워싱턴주 시애틀)는 미국 팝가수다. 그녀는 1957년 컨트리팝 크로스오버 곡인 "검은 달"이 히트하였고 그녀의 최고의 해로 기억된다. 그녀는 여성 컨트리음악 가수로는 컨트리와 팝의 크로스오버를 부른 첫 가수 중 하나가 되었다. 양쪽 분야에서 모두 히트하였다.

 

She also co-founded the record company Dolton Records in the late 50s, that launched the careers of The Fleetwoods and The Ventures. In 1960 she left Dolton and became part owner of Jerden Records. She was married to the late musician and inventor Paul Tutmarc.
