70년대 최고의 인기를 누렸던 엔튼 존은 음악이나 스테이지 매너에서 타의
추종을 불허하는 가수로 잠재적인 몽상가 기질까지 있지않나 하는 의구심을
불러일으킬 정도였다. 엘튼 존은 1947년 3월 영국의 미들섹스주에서
태어났으며 (본명:레그드 와트) 작곡가이며 피아노 연주자이고 또 싱어로서도
재주꾼이며 1969년 [Empty]를 발표하면서 솔로로 데뷔한 그는 [Your Song]
으로 영국 내에서  상당한 인기와 가수로서의 기질을 공히 인정받았다.
계속해서 4월에는 [Daniel], 11월에는 2장의 레코드 세트인 [Goodbey Yellow

 Brick Road]로 3개의 싱글을 대히트 시켰는데 동명 타이틀인 [Saturday Nights

 for fighting] [Bemine and The Jets] 등이 있다.
